charity
ball 2007
On September
22nd 2007, Little Acorns Childminding Group held a charity ball
at Calne Town Hall. The aim of the ball was to raise funds for
the Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as for the group itself to
fund a day-out in 2008 for all of the children who are looked
after by childminders in the group. Local businesses supported
the event by donating prizes including computer equipment, in-car
satellite navigation systems, watches and other jewellery, tickets
for local attractions, food and drink hampers and much more.
The event
proved massively popular with almost 100 people attending for
an evening of dinner and dance. From revenue generated
by the sale of ball tickets along with raffle money and other
donations, the group raised over £1500 which was split equally
between Little Acorns and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Little
Acorns used their share of the money to fund a fun-day at a
local farm in April 2008 for all of the children looked after
by childminders within the group involving circus entertainers,
face-painting, a bouncy castle, singing and magic shows, treasure
hunts and a picnic.
Due to
enormous success of this years ball, the group have decided
to repeat the event in 2008... [more]
