Little Acorns
Childminding Group formed in September 2005 to provide support
to childminders working within the Calne and surrounding areas.
Since then we have expanded our services to offer more regular
group meetings and a centralised resource of vacancies so that
parents looking for childminding services can contact one of
three designated group members who keep a list of each childminder's
vacancies and can match up the parents requirements with suitable
childminders.
We also provide
business and social support assisting with information on childminding
plus offering advice on training and other help to further develop
your skills as a childminder.
We are a membership-based
group who work independently but meet up every Friday morning
at the newly built Beversrook Sports Ground to provide activities
for the children to engage in and opportunities for childminders
to chat and discuss any issues.
All members
of the group have to:
We take it in
turns to run activities such as cooking, junk model, card making
on a rota system. All members also take it in turns to
make refreshments and wash up. All members also
help with setting up and clearing away activities. We
also occasionally ask guests to take part in group sessions,
offering specialised activities or services which members or
the group itself may benefit from.
It costs £5.00
to become a member, with weekly sessions charged at £2.00 per
session. In addition to becoming part of the group, you are
also entitled to reduced NCMA membership fees. Membership
runs from September to the following August.
Sessions are
normally run during term-time only.

If you're a
childminder in Calne, Devizes, Lyneham, Compton Bassett, Derry
Hill or other neighbouring area, membership is highly recommended
as we are always getting enquiries from parents looking for
childcare. For such a small outlay you get so many benefits
and can become part of a wider social network in the area!
