Personal Details
Hello, my name is Karen
Wilson. I am a mother of 2 and full-time childminder.
My son was born in 1993 and my daughter in 1997. I
have been married to my husband, Rob, for 23 years. He
is a Police Officer working out of Chippenham.
I used to be a stewardess but left that "life" after the
birth of my son. After my daughter was born, and after
I had been a 'stay-at-home' mum for 4 years, I knew I was
never going to be able to return to my previous job choice
so decided instead that a full career change would need to
take place and here I am, 10 years later, doing what I do
best!
I run
my business 'Karen Wilson Childcare' from our large 3-storey
townhouse on Linnet Road on the Lansdowne Park estate in
Calne. We bought the house with my job in mind as the
house has two large reception rooms (one of the ground floor
that I use for work) and one large enough for our living
room that is on the 1st floor. Having a dedicated work
room works well for me, the children that I care for and my
family alike. The children have access to their own
toilet as well as the kitchen/diner.
We
share our home with our 2 cats; they are Maximum our
short-haired tabby born March 2008 and Tiberius born August
2009, a long-haired grey tabby. Children get a lot of
benefit from having interaction with pets and both cats love
the children.
The
children have a structured learning plan, yet I always take
the lead from children ensuring that they are happy and
doing activities, days out and playing as this always works
best for us all.
I work
very hard to ensure that all children in my care have a
well-balanced, fun, learning routine whilst they attend my
setting. I fulfil all areas of the Early Years
Foundation Stage (EYFS) to the best of my ability and am
proud of the results and outcomes that the children achieve.
I am
Ofsted-registered
and a member of the NCMA. I am a
very experienced childminding professional - 17 years of
looking after my own children and about 20 childminded
children enable me to be confident in what I do, and to know
my area of working well. Good common sense and years
of experience speak for itself!
In my
most recent Ofsted inspection I received an Outstanding
grade.
Training and Experience
I have
undertaken appropriate courses to assist me, these include:
● First Aid in Childcare
● Safeguarding Children
● Child Protection
● Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect
● Anti-bullying
● NVQ Level 3 in Childcare
● Level 2 certificate in Food Hygiene and Safety
● EYFS Training
● Movement and Handling in Childcare Setting
● Managing Behaviour for Childcare Workers
● Movement to Music.
I hold
a full, clean UK driving license.
Contractual Details
My
fees are as follows:
£3.75 per hour for 30 hours or more of childcare per week
£4.00 per hour for less than 30 hours of childcare per week.
I take
four weeks holiday per year - two weeks of my choosing and parents can also choose two weeks.
Vacancies
I am
currently full within the 0-60 months age group but do have
space available for before/after-school care from Fynamore
School.
From
September 2012 I have one full-time vacancy.
